I've seen three of Juraj Herz's works so far and all in their own ways have blown me away. While this was the most straightforward and the "lightest" of the three, it was still completely enthralling. The dichotomy between the twins, the jealousy, and the quarrels are nothing new but portrayed in his wonderful gothic style that wins you over even with a story that you are very familiar with. The garishness all works wonderfully well in Herz's hands which comes out far more vibrantly that you expect, makes me want to immediately watch more of his works.
