A scene from the writers room:
Writer a: you know they are making another Jurassic Park movie?
Writer b: yeah, I’m kinda stoked about that
Writer a: what if we made a Jurassic Park movie?
Writer b: well we aren’t The Asylum
Writer a: we don’t have to do a low budget movie like them, we can write a better movie!
Writer b: how do we do a Jurassic Park movie without ripping it off that bad?
Writer a: zombies are cool. We can do a Jurassic Park movie but instead of dinosaurs we will have zombies!
Writer b: that is why you are the head writer
I know what you’re thinking.
You’re thinking that’s a very shitty title.
And you’re 100% right.
The ReZort is what happens if you take the script to Jurassic Park, cross out the word dinosaur and crudely scrawl the word zombie in its place, in red crayon.
Following a near-apocalyptic zombie outbreak, the human race is depleted by two billion people, but once again it is in control. The last vestiges of the zombies are now on a paradise island resort. They are used as a hunting sport, for zombie safaris or “zafaris”. When a virus is uploaded to the resorts computer systems, the resorts defence systems are brought down and the attractions run amok.

I don't know why I have these thoughts about some movies but again, as an satire this would have been great.
A resort full of zombies for people who want to kill zombies for different reasons like trauma, fun or whatever.
It sounds already like a satire to me and when we put in the final twist, then it's not understandable for me why nobody got the same idea.
Instead this is a normal zombie movie with a great premise.
It's not like I don't like zombie movies, quite the contrary, I like them a lot if they bring something intriguing to the table.
The Rezort has the ingredients, but when it comes to the zombie survival part it's just…
This was okay. There were some decent ideas. I liked how it was pretty much a zombie version of Jurassic Park. The main problem was the writing. The characters were godawful, and because of that, dragged the movie down. The gore was decent but could've been less polished. The ending was chaotic and probably the best part of the film. It's a fine flick to waste your time with on a lazy Sunday.
The ReZort is a terrible name for a film. It's also mostly just a story that takes heavy influence from zombie films of the past, as well as games such as Dead Rising and Dead Island. However there are a few moments of creativity, so decent acting by a few of the main actors, and some decent effects.
I still didn't think the film was good. But it definitely wasnt the trash fire I was expecting from a film called The ReZort. But if anything all it really did was make me want to replay Dead Rising 2, which isn't a bad thing either.
Going on a safari where you shoot zombies does sound fun, but remember, capitalism and zombies don't mix well.
***This was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of writers and actors like those currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn't exist.***

Simply don't go to an island you know is filled with zombies.
This is a weird one because most of the time I find the first act of these lower budget monster films to be painful because often the characters are poorly developed and they aren't properly setting up the premise. The first act of this is actually pretty engaging though. It's not until we get to the zombies breaking loose that I actually started to get bored. The action is pretty flat and that story becomes so generic, I really struggled to keep my attention after a while.
Only for true zombie enthusiasts.
The ReZort should've changed its horrifically disgusting title to the more apt "JuraZZic Park". Welcome to the ReZort! A paradise that allows your mind to escape, forgetting about the woes of daily life as you party all night, sunbathe on the sandy beach and shoot zombies whilst drinking a martini. Perfect, right? Initially, the concept sounds promising. Then the film plods along at a pace slower than a "shuffler" (how many more synonyms can one use for a zombie?), and the realisation that said concept is dumb as hell infiltrates your mind. Whatever. Ten years after a viral outbreak, survivors pay to visit a safari park that allows them to shoot zombies and release their suppressed emotions. That is until…
A zombie outbreak has been put down but at a substantial cost of life.
Years later, an island ReZort is created where people can go and kill zombies (each person for their own reasons - which are never really discussed.)
A group of highly unlikeable ReZort vacationers, led by Dougray Scott.
Cue in the Jurassic Park feel where the computer system is sabotaged releasing zombies throughout the island.
The story is fairly blah, but there is a twist near the end.
Pretty good zombie EFX.
