Would you look at that. Something explored the dreamtravelling theme before Nightmare on Elm Street.
While I agree with Roger Ebert that it's a mix of 3 films, I didn't find it confusing. On the contrary, I think the thriller part quite elegantly adds to the sci-fi aspect of it, because of the overarching subtext of the movie (arms race / Cold War / nuclear hysteria/paranoia / shadow ops). It really added layers to the fight for power.
It sure has its flaws but what doesn't?
a good underappreciated flick with some horror tones, what's not to like?
p.s. score is ass tho :(
