Hooptober 12: 17/31
As a very privileged individual, I am struggling to say anything about Freaks other than I felt that it is very compassionate about its titular cast. Its cult status well-deserved (its status as a horror movie not so much), the film comes off as an outlier because of how it treats its subject matter. There's a lesson in here somewhere that equality and equity in society are neither a modern invention of globalized liberalism, nor have these sentiments at any point in time never sparked outrage. There's hope that the original version, about half an hour longer than the present edition, will surface one day, to the chants of "One of us!" across the cinemas.
