Hooptober 12: 17/31
4 based on Novels (4/4)
Creeping Southern Gothic Americana + some of the most beautiful shots you've seen in your life. I can't stop thinking about the scene with the Preacher in Willa's room, with those big sharp angles and shadows that seem to make a church steeple on the wall as he's looking absolutely insane. And then Lillian Gish being a total badass. The line about being a strong tree with many branches for many birds 💕
Love the accidental Charles Laughton crossover on my Hooptober list with Island of Lost Souls.
