“The overkill. The precision. It’s not over…”
Ok, Horatio Caine.

Interesting idea but a reserved follow through.

There was never any tension or stakes or even much of a character. Fortunately, Mindy brings a natural charm to the role, it’s just that nothing’s explored. You can see the psychotic traits on paper, practically bullet pointed but never fleshed out. Her detachment, her zero fucks about the trail of bodies, her trauma, her talent, her love for her best friend. The character is obviously smart, meticulous, technically efficient, unbothered, and has this cool ability, but… meh. And I get she’s not supposed to be portrayed like a psycho serial killer. But also she is.

There’s no excess, and this is a film that feels like it’s required. Either get gritty and go the full Saw treatment or make it a series like Dexter which can build on the characters and plot points.

In saying that, big kudos for the theremin kill.
