Slappy McGee’s review published on Letterboxd:
I usually don't like "Mummy" type movies.
But this was good.
This was REALLY good.
Full Disclosure: it's more of a supernatural spirit movie than a mummy movie. But it feels like a mummy movie because of all the Egyptian lore and the fact that the spirit flying around possessing people comes out of a mummy and wants to go back into a mummy.
So, yeah... still a mummy movie for the most part.
But lots of fun and it moves very rapidly.
Actually in the third act things get too fast and it should have taken its time, truth be told. Would have made for a 4-star film for me with a little more care in those crucial scenes.
But still, a very fun ride.
It also helps to have both Sophie Marceau in the lead and Julie Christie in a fun supporting role. Those ladies are always fantastic onscreen!
