A sick film for sick people, Gore Verbinski’s “A Cure for Wellness” is the strangest movie that a major studio has released since 2014’s “Inherent Vice” (a Thomas Pynchon adaptation that only got the green light because everybody wants to be in the Paul Thomas Anderson business, even though that business hasn’t been profitable in a very long time). Gore Verbinski's A Cure for Wellness is absolutely fucking gorgeous. I was convinced I was watching this movie in IMAX. The cinematography, set design, sound design, color scheme, and costumes are all incredible. From a visual standpoint, this movie is amazing. There were so many shots that I would LOVE to have framed on my wall. This movie takes place in the middle of the Swiss Alps in a castle, which makes for some epic, beautiful, and stunning imagery. I was completely floored. There is this one specific shot of Dane DeHaan's character sitting on a bench overseeing the Swiss Alps that had my jaw on the floor.
