Day 8: Hidden Gems 💎
HAHAHAHAHSH OMG THIS IS SO LEGENDARY AND I’M SO GONNA REMEMBER THIS ACTUAL HIDDEN GEM FOR A LONG TIME❕❕
(yay another big review since I’m feeling very inspired by this movie💞)
I honestly feel a little crazy, bc I unironically loved loved lovedddd this movie so much and I laughed my ass off A LOT. I had so much fun watching it and the time flew in a hearbeat (I actually couldn’t believe the movie was over so quickly). I was already really hooked up and curious to see what it will be like just after reading a description, and looking at the poster. At first look, it looked so crazy and bizarre, and it for sure was, but it’s not for everyone, I’d even say most people won’t like it and might even find some scenes sick or offensive. Don’t go into it with huge (quality) expectations, bc it’s just pure entertainment.
It’s a low-budget movie, but the cinematography was actually a little better than expected (even tho I felt like I was watching a short horror movie on youtube but it didn’t effect my experience much). I liked the Chompy mask, it was so funny and made the whole movie better. The story is so unique and I’ve never seen anything like it, even tho it wasn’t scary at all (no blood or jumpscares, so if you’re looking for that, I’d suggest to watch smth else). The plot twist was pretty great too, and this is rare movie where not any of the characters annoyed me - everyone was so great made. I don’t think it’s supposed to be atmospheric movie, but I was so stressed and tense during some scenes, which surprised me bc I haven’t felt that stressed in a long time😭
I wish we had seen more Chompy swallowing people whole like in the scene at the beginning bc ngl it looked so funky. I could’ve done without all wannabe family drama since it was kindaaa annoying. Ending was satisfactory, but kinda mid and rushed in my opinion.
This movie is so underrated and so freaking bizarre, I’d recommend you to watch it if you don’t know what to watch and just want to kill some time.
It definitely made its way into my favourites and I already can’t wait to rewatch it (hopefully I’ll get my das to watch it with me next time).
Also, I just remembered Chompy and the Girls kinda reminded me on short horror movie The Smiling Man from 2015. It’s not really similar, so it’s probably just me🫣
