🧟♂️ Hooptober 12 - 22/45 🧟♀️ “DREAMS”
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to finally watch this movie! It’s really everything I wanted it to be, and I was more invested in this prequel than I generally was in the TV show. The dorky eccentricities featured in many of the show’s subplots weren’t always to my taste (oh right…that’s why I haven’t seen this movie until now, getting through season 2 was a struggle 😅) but any time the surreal and spooky factors were turned up to 11 i was TUNED. THEFUCK. IN. Fire Walk with Me is almost entirely surreal & spooky, and I’m really not surprised that I really enjoyed it.
I also can’t submit a review of FWWMwithout singing the praises of the incredible Sheryl Lee. She put everything into her performance of Laura Palmer, she made sure that we all know this movie was HERS. From a mild-mannered schoolgirl to a sultry lady of the night, from a giggling cokehead to a terrified young woman reeling from abuse, all the way to that emotionally powerful ending — this is easily my favorite performance of my Hooptober 12 season, and probably one of the best horror performances of all time. David Lynch and Mark Frost really did create something special with Twin Peaks and I can’t wait to watch this movie again. Now on to The Missing Pieces, I guess!
