Hooptober 12: 9/31
Adding this to the list of films whose poster spoil the final shot!
This was what I sort of expected from The Last Man on Earth. A scientist semi-causes and then lives through The Rapture as he first discovers and then indulges in the fact that he is the last person on earth. It's a fun execution of the trope with a distinct atmosphere to it, perhaps owing to the fact that it's apparently the first sci-fi film from New Zealand. It is also refreshingly devoid of conflict, mostly -- there are no bloodthirsty ghouls, and (spoilers) once the protagonist meets other survivors, the guns are quickly laid to rest and everyone just hugs it out. A romantic's apocalypse.
