I've known of this film for quite a long time and built it up in my head due to its reputation of being one of the most disturbing movies ever. I really liked the first half, and then the second half happened and I understood the reputation. It is not very heavy in gore but gore isn't the worst thing you can watch. The depravity and nihilism is intense. I'll probably never watch it again, but, I enjoyed the storytelling and the way it evokes an intense reaction. I didn't like the second half per se, but I liked how the first half invited you into the second half.
