Hooptober XII: That was certainly a movie. Would rather directors take some wild swings with a few misses then always play it safe.

Stylistically I do appreciate how much this one felt like the first movie with it's hazy picture quality and frantic camera. Really the best part of that was the fusion with the higher production. Large sweeping shots, crystal clear visuals, it made for a fantastic contrast.

What worked most for me was the memento mori theming. Once we get into that zone of the script, dealing with grief and death and how we make sense and carry on after dealing with it, that was all fantastically done and was even better acted, Alfie Williams was truly spectacular.

But a lot of the lead up felt messy and disjointed. Like the ideas of five sequels all got rolled together.

And not every film trick worked. Unsure what was added with the 180 freeze frame kill shots. Like it was sick sure but half of this movie didn't feel like we were here for that sort of tone.

Also little point but that was also the weakest opening of the trilogy in my opinion.

Lots to love. Not really too much to dislike. Just a sprinkling of stuff to make you go huh? I think I even liked the weird stuff but that left me with confusion as the credits rolled.
