Dunno what version I watched but it’s lucky it got watched at all opening like that. Started on Tubi but thought it looked horrendous and sourced another version… and it opened the same. I stuck it out and in a minute the footage changed and looked fuckin gorgeous. 

There’s some rough cuts between scenes and some notably crappier moments which I assume were previously deleted excerpts. Why deleted scenes? I dunno, there’s little in the way of blood or nudity. It feels scandalous though, and exudes forbidden sexuality, and if there’s one thing that scares people, it’s the idea of it all. It’s all vibes and the vibes are wet and trembling. Everyone’s horny, including mama, but everything’s happening just below the surface. It’s so pretty too, the costumes are fucking insane. The shoulder construction! So it all comes together into something quite compelling. 

Kill count is low and it teases more action and horror than it delivers, although the final reveal was sweet and the first murder was beautiful. 

It’s a pressure cooker that never explodes. Just a steady release of steam.
