It’s kind of a tough watch but it’s also nearly impossible to take your eyes off of Isabelle Huppert in this movie. This performance is so confident and so powerful, and I’m fairly certain that stare came right out of my TV screen and bore straight into my soul. My biggest takeaway from The Piano Teacher is easily the mystery surrounding her character - do I feel sorry for her, is she a mentally unwell villain unworthy of my sympathy, should people stop with the slut-shaming, wait should she actually get some help??? (Yes to all, I think!)
