I am all for putting up two big middle fingers to censors, and by that standard I'm very happy that In the Realm of the Senses exists. The viewing experience itself, however, was less than thrilling. It's not a long movie but it sure felt long (I can't believe I got so bored by all that sex lmao) and I had way more fun reading about the real-life affair and murder the film was based on.
