Bro....all of that just to bang your 16yo cousin 😭

Divorce Italian Style is a charming, hilarious, and scathing story of a (formerly) aristocratic family in an almost-impoverished small Sicilian town, where nearly everyone is clinging to the traditions and laws of yesteryear (mostly provoked by the one of Fellini's biggest haters, the Catholic church.) The story highlights the ridiculous, and often hilariously hypocritical (read: misogynist) laws of the land: Baron Cefalu, played by the almost unbearably handsome and suave Marcello Mastroianni, is desperate to leave his wife for another woman but divorce is illegal and a HUGE cultural no-no. Instead, he settles for staging a meet-cute for his wife and her former lover so he can MURDER THEM AND RECEIVE A LIGHTER SENTENCE BECAUSE IT'S KIND OF OK TO MURDER YOUR CHEATING WIFE LMAOOOOOOOO.

Cefalu is a weirdo creep (soooooo many fantasies of him killing his wife, who is smoking hot by the way - you can't fool me with that unibrow and mustache!!!) but that seems to be the point the movie is trying to make - these laws and institutions were insane, and the people standing by them and avoiding any sort of legal or cultural progression were insane!!
