The Other Lamb is devoid of surprises because the story is a familiar one, but it’s perhaps a story worth repeating, and it’s beautifully shot and edited. Two things that stuck out to me:
Many of the reprehensible acts shown here are depicted so matter-of-factly that the viewer is inclined to stop their assessment of this film at “been there, done that” which is kind of a scary reaction to the systematic oppression of women, pedophilia, and incest.
The strongest scene for me was when the protagonist imagined herself living a normal life, brief as it was. It comes and goes so quickly and without much context that it emphasizes my previous point: how these women normalize their horrible situation and the manipulation they are subjected to, even when they are fully aware of it.
