Ghoul Gruel’s review published on Letterboxd:
“Love has no borders, nationalities, or genders! Do it!”
This is why you have to have watched Night of the Living Dead.
Second time tryna watch this. I don’t think I got 10min in last time and can’t work out what made me stop. The movie is just ridiculous. It’s raw, trashy, and over the top. It riffs on everything but the absurdity is played straight and earnest, stopping it from coming across as slapstick even though there’s not a straight bone in it. Non stop energy, swagger, and schlock.
They really just put in every single thing they love. 60’s rockabilly punk and surfer vibes, blue face zombies, leathers and motorcycles, flames, UFOs, loser slacker wannabe criminals, a flamboyant villain, badass military babe, and love, man, love. And Guitar Wolf are practically demi-gods.
If Romero was an over-caffeinated, Japanese, garage-rock n roll greaser.
I applaud the costume designer for the wig/haircut combo on The Captain.
