This is a great example of how the absolute horror should be done. Most movies struggle to create a scary atmosphere, even when using typical tools like dark places, screamers, and phobias. Ari Aster did a great job here in avoiding all of this. This is a high skill to create a horror under sunlight, where everyone is happy and smiling.
A key aspect of this movie is its cinematography. Every shot here is beautiful. We perceive plain fields, people, and how they interact with one another. The movie starts with tight spaces, but when the group arrived at their destination, even the houses are big and full of air.
One of the best modern horror movies, as it’s engaging and entertaining throughout its entire runtime. The atmosphere is really unsettling and sometimes disturbing.
