Slappy McGee’s review published on Letterboxd:
An uncomfortable amount of nuns at the beginning of this movie.
Kinda made me wonder if I had the correct DVD in.
So, in this part three, Anthony Perkins takes over the director chair as well as reprising his role as Norman Bates.
The movie works pretty well, especially as a third installment.
Some nice gory horror at times. Although the peanut butter and ritz scene may have grossed me out the most. (Norman using the same spoon to stuff a dead bird for his taxidermy hobby and then using it to put peanut butter on a ritz to eat. The horror! The horror!)
Also, the third time that we see the most famous shower scene in history. It's been flashbacked to in both sequels (II & III). Not a bad move really. Keeps up connected and reminds us of that amazingly filmed scene.
Also Perkins uses a couple of famous lines again in this one as a homage/callback to the original:
* "Oh, we have 12 vacancies. 12 cabins, 12 vacancies."
* "Mother! Oh God, mother! Blood! Blood!"
* "We all go a little mad sometimes."
