Hooptober XII - watch #5

I recently read the book of The Long Walk and it immediately shot into my top 3 Stephen King novels, mainly for just how well he fleshes out all of the friendships (and rivalries) that are forged throughout the story. This adaption excels because of how well it transfers that aspect to screen.
It's bleak, heartbreaking, funny, and occasionally wholesome. It's dialogue heavy, but never boring. Some of the fat that is in the book is trimmed down for a sharper experience and it's pretty faithful to the source material for the most part. It does veer off here and there, sometimes quite drastically, and it did catch me off guard but not necessarily in a bad way.
One of the best of the year for me, and David Jonsson is fast becoming one of my favourite modern actors.
