Hello everyone! I made this Challenge on a whim. The idea suddenly came up in my mind. I haven't really seen that many films rated NC-17. I want to change that and this Challenge brings me the perfect opportunity to do so.
What is the NC-17 Challenge?
This Challenge is an undertaken by me where the aim for each participant is to watch and review 17 different films with the NC-17 rating. There's no time limit, unless set by yourself.
What is the NC-17 rating?
An NC-17 rated motion picture is one that, in the view of the Rating Board, most parents would consider patently too adult for children 17 and under. Nobody under the age of 18 is admitted in any circumstance. NC-17 does not mean "obscene" or "pornographic" in the common or legal meaning of those words, and should not be construed as a negative judgment in any sense.
This rating just simply signals that the content is appropriate only for an adult audience. The majority of films rated NC-17 receive this rating due to their sexual content. It stands for: No One 17 And Under Admitted.
NC-17 films almost never get a wide release in North America and are often tied with commercial failure due to the refusal to be stocked by major retailers or have advertisements shown on television.
How do I participate?
All you have to do is create your own list that fills the criteria below and post it into the comments on this thread. (YOU CAN JOIN AT ANY POINT, EVEN AFTER THE DAY OF THE CHALLENGE HAS BEGUN). Once you have done that I will add your name and your list up here, and once we get underway you simply have to watch and review each of your chosen films.
Be sure to include a link back to this thread in each of your own lists so others can participate if they want to, and also make sure you number your lists so they can be cross-referenced easily. I would also recommend adding the respective tasks to the comments of each film on your list.
What other rules are there?
The films you watch can all be viewed as first time watches or rewatches. You should also make it clear at the top of each review that you watched the film as part of this challenge.
Films that received the NC-17 rating at first are allowed as well.
Anything else?
Reviews are optional. But reviews in other languages are allowed, you can watch your chosen films in any order and you are allowed to change your list at any given time providing your choice meets the criteria.
What else can I do?
This Challenge is designed to be community-based challenge so be sure to tag each of your lists and reviews with the term "nc17 challenge" so others can find them with ease.
Here is the list! Hope you enjoy watching all your films. Good luck and have fun!
