There’s a lot of stunning work on display here, so much extravagance and exquisite detail in the costuming, the jewelry, the sets and OMFG this movie made me so hungry 😩😩 that food looked incredible, I was born to dine at those lavish tables!!! I’m also a fan of opera and classical music, so I was having a great time with the scoring and soundtrack. 

Outside of being stunned by their visually captivating surroundings, I was mildly uninterested in most of what was happening with the characters. Maybe I’m just not huge on 19th-century period pieces like this, or maybe I just didn’t need over two hours of Daniel Day Lewis pining over Michelle Pfeiffer? Also, was I supposed to be surprised that Winona was on to them the whole time?? Because it was pretty obvious that homegirl knew what was up for a while, at least to me it was 😅 Perhaps I’ll pick up the book and dig a little deeper into that world someday, but the movie is definitely not my favorite Scorsese.
