My attempt at the Chain Reaction Challenge.
Rules:
1) You have to choose 100 Films.
2) Your first film is the anchor point.
3) Each film has to relate to the previous in some way. So Film 2 has to connect to Film 1 and Film 3 has to connect to Film 2.
4) You can choose whatever link you like, as tangible or obscure as you like.
5) Rewatches are allowed (I won't be using any)
6) There is no time limit.
7) Include the links in the notes.
8) Link the list in the comments of the original list.
9) Links and films can only be used once.
10) The films can be watched in any order.

This challenge took from January 16, 2021 to December 29, 2024. The average score for this challenge that I gave was 3.3. The biggest surprise was Inherit the Wind. I’m not usually a huge fan of courtroom dramas honestly. They’re great acting showcases but not much more than that. But that film absolutely blew me away with its timeliness and depth. The biggest disappointment was The Age of Innocence. Far from the worst film of the challenge, it was at least the worst Scorsese film I’ve ever seen which is what makes it so disappointing. I’d never watched a Scorsese film I didn’t like before that one.
Top Three
1. Inherit the Wind
2. Whisper of the Heart
3. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote
Bottom Three
1. The Little Mermaid
2. Intolerance
3. Inherent Vice
Other Superlatives:
Best Performances: Charlize Theron in Monster/Spencer Tracy in Inherit the Wind
Worst Performances: Armando Gutierrez in The Little Mermaid/Poppy Drayton in The Little Mermaid
Most Beautiful: Akira
Most Thought-Provoking: Inherit the Wind
Made Me Cry: Whisper of the Heart
Most Fun: Peter Pan
