About five years ago, Zyzzyx Road was produced in the Mojave Desert on a budget of $2,000,000. The film was open for 6 days in cinemas by the end of which a total of 6 tickets had been sold, equalling the value of $30. Two of these tickets, however, were purchased by crew members in the film, and were fully refunded, bringing the film in to earning roughly negative $1,999,980. Since then the film has virtually hit the black again thanks to DVD sales and so on. The notoriety the film gained due to its incredible box-office bomb helped propel Grey's Anatomy/Knocked Up/27 Dresses star Katherine Heigl to her current fame.
Zyzzyx Road, plain and simple, is not good. But…

Often cited as the lowest grossing movie of all time, having notoriously made $30 — $10 of which was refunded — though it was deliberate because it played in a single theatre once a day for some distribution bullshit. People pay billions of dollars to see blue CGI creatures fucking, so forgive me if I am not impressed. What is impressive though is that this is actually really fucking stupid. A cockeyed pedophile and an underage Kathrine Heigl sit in a car for half the movie and then roam around the desert for half the movie while Tom Sizemore keeps randomly showing up and nothing is real.
To the lowest grossing film in American cinematic history … I’m glad I’ve now ticked that off my list

As the movie progressed I almost thought to myself ….. if I rewrote this and recast and shot with better lighting and framing ….. shiiiieeet we could potentially score something pretty good …

True fact: if this film has a murky and dark colour grading, that means the scene is real. If it is really bright and colourful, then it is not real. Sometimes the colour grading changes 10 times in the space of 30 seconds.
And that is all you really need to know about the film, because you'll know what I mean when I say this is atrocious. It actually has to be seen to be believed, the second half of this film is like watching a toddler with ADHD and multiple personality disorder jumping from 1 personality to another... again and again and again.
Speaking of toddlers, Katherine Heigl is in this and she is punching far above her weight by playing a 17 year old prostitute. If that alone doesn't turn you off this then you are a brave individual.
