It delivers the Lovecraftian schlock you want eventually, but only mildly, and it takes a while to get there. It’s at its best when it dials up the dread.
I, for one, am getting a bit burnt out on the late period Nicolas Cage acts like a lunatic stuff, so your mileage may vary.
But, seriously, the fucked up cosmic gross stuff is occasionally quite horrifying, but it also doesn’t feel like it goes far enough? I wanted to see more humans fused to one each other!
I guess it’s hard to adapt a color nobody’s ever seen before, so might as well go purple!
