Over the past year, I've been reading script drafts, looking at storyboards, watching rushes, rough cuts, rougher cuts, final cuts, and finaler cuts of this film, and all I can say is... what a movie. Being a part of Josef's immensely moving and personal project has been one of the most impactful points in my creative life and my friendship with Josef.
Despite my personal ties to it, I must admit that this film is simply fantastic. Not only is it seeping with creativity and innovation in its lighting, framing, and editing choices, but it feels so deeply personal. I wrote the first outline for this movie nearly a year ago now, and it’s basically all I’ve thought about since, so it’s surreal to see it finally be done. Not only is it easily my favorite thing I’ve made, but it’s also my most personal film yet, which is why it’s been so important for me to make it the best I possibly can.
