I’ve been digging into this Amicus boxset from Severin films and it’s been a real treat to watch the two I’ve yet to see, the werewolf murder mystery The Beast Must Die, and the 70’s gothic supernatural tale, And Now the Screaming Starts, as I make my way towards the classic of the set which I have seen, Asylum.
In 1795, newlyweds Catherine and Charles Fengriffen move into Charles' stately mansion (the beautiful Oakley Court, which has been featured in numerous Hammer films and The Rocky Horror Picture Show) where Catherine falls victim to a frightful family curse that was placed on the Fengriffen’s by a wronged servant.
There’s some nice camerawork amidst the beautiful Oakley Court atmosphere, and the 70’s…
