This movie combines so many things I don’t like into something actually really enjoyable. (I see your perfect metaphor for life/love/pie there) It’s also a beautiful story about the transformative power of motherhood and some really stellar food porn. Even though she’s treated so badly by the people in her life and living her worst nightmare for most of the movie, Jenny is never pathetic, she’s a resilient and confident character who’s impossible not to root for even when she’s…

I’m not sure why this didn’t work for me like it seems to have worked for everyone else. Maybe because it took me over a week to watch it and it just felt so SO long. I was bored during the first half, but it certainly picks up speed eventually. It’s admirable insofar as it’s so thorough and convincing. This character feels real. Very British. There’s lots of tea, and pasty people repressing their emotions and insisting things be done the “proper” way. There’s some humor injected, but overall it’s a dull movie with a very drab color palette. Just not my kind of thing; I was pretty much over it before it was halfway done.

Time loop movies hit different when you’re a stay at home mom. Nobody ever made a stay at home mom time loop movie because she wouldn’t even notice.
I was expecting this to be goofy and lighthearted, so I’m still sort of trying to sort out my feelings about the movie it actually ended up being. There are a lot of really good moments, I have such a weakness for comedy actors in serious roles and Andy Samberg with stubble is kind of like damn. Maybe I’ll like it more on rewatch when I’m prepared for it.
