Hooptober VII: Horror Fanatics are such Easy Prey
A deep-fried southern yarn about a yankee duo investigating a Sasquatch-like creature in a small southern town.
Totally cashing-in on the unexpected success of the much superior Legend of Boggy Creek and boy does it show. Nothing wrong with that of course and the movie does separate itself by being a more straight laced film as opposed to a fauxumentary like Boggy Creek. You still get that southern atmosphere, swamp b-roll, cautious and scared townsfolk, and the menacing roar (that sounds almost identical to Boggy Creeks).
Plus you’ve got Jack Elam being a drunkard hillbilly with a bone to pick with the creature, and he sells every scene he’s in.
It’s the sort of horror film you’d start your children on. Fun, occasionally spooky, and no graphic violence or nudity. A simply cozy good time.
