Second act: Bottom trawling footage/carnage. Overfishing. Krill fishing. Shark fishing. Scallop fishing. Fishing. Coastal communities starving. More bottom trawling footage/carnage in case you didn't get the nuclear winter analogy and the bulldozing but underwater analogy. Goddamn ... people suck.
Third act: It's okay. We just have to leave swathes of the ocean alone to regenerate. West Papua. The Channel Islands. Hawaii's Papahānaumokuākea. Hope. Just leave ideally a third of the ocean reserved and alone for years. When less than 3% is protected right now. Remember that the June 2025 UN Ocean Conference in France is coming up, y'all, and think good thoughts.

Just finished watching Ocean with David Attenborough, and honestly, I’m feeling all kinds of things. Right from the start, it had me wide-eyed. The way the camera captured the ocean in such insane detail, from the calm surface to the dark, mysterious depths. I have no idea what kind of tech they used, but wow. The visuals are stunning. It feels like you’re getting a peek into another world, one we’ve only imagined before.
