As The Super Mario Galaxy Movie presses “start” on its theatrical journey (hi, Yoshi!!!), this week’s Showdown celebrates video-game adaptations, a filmmaking feat with a difficulty level of “Extreme”. To qualify for a #1 Victory Royale, your selections must be based on video games that already exist, meaning it’s game over for Spy Kids 3-D, eXistenZ, Free Guy, Wreck-It Ralph and other movies centred on original IP—this theme may just have to respawn when Zach Cregger’s take on Resident Evil comes out later this year.
