why even hire a cartographer at all if you're just going to keep arguing with her about which direction you should be going in? anyway.. the gore was great and the yeti didn't look too bad, but that plot and the writing were very questionable. i don't think we'll ever get an actually good yeti movie.
I really wanted to like this, as I thought I he concept was cool and I love Jim Cummings. But, this isn’t good. The editing is as bad as I can recall for a film, and it’s frequently so dark, you can’t see what’s going on. When you can see the gore and the monster, they aren’t terrible for a low-budget horror movie. And the beginning team announcement segment was pretty solid, but overall, this doesn’t work.

More fun than I expected (especially after reading some reactions from a festival screening) and totally admire the ambition behind it, especially for a monster movie set in the 40’s.
Enjoyed the period dialogue, costumes and production design despite the budget, as well as the use of newsreel look in the beginning and copious outrageous gore.
Practical creature effects and sound design are solid too.
This contained horror film just wants to have some goofy, gory fun.

World premiere: I need festival programmers to take their job more seriously than this. Producer Johnathan Brownlee is otherwise known for his Dallas-specific short film qua advertisements for brewpubs. Not exactly a Deep Vellum situation, here. Distributor Well Go Entertainment got their start importing karaoke laser discs from Taiwan and landing contracts with big box retailers to put golf instruction DVDs in those bins you see in the electronics section; their claim to fame is pivoting to Asian action distro and getting Ip Man 3 a limited theatrical run in the U.S. Lately the nepo babies running the shop are expanding into horror, if you can even call this that.

This film doesn't have a lot of love on LB so far, but you know what? I did not hate this. It's far from perfect and I do have some grievances, but as a period piece/monster movie, I didn't think it was that bad. The movie is clearly setting out to make an old-timey B-Movie film and as such it utilizes a lot of practical effects including a pretty solid monster suit. It's roughly 9 feet tall and thanks to the lack of CGI, it doesn't look stupid.

One single star for achieving the unlikely heights of at least being a movie. But maybe next time put a yeti in your yeti movie instead of obviously hiding a shitty costume behind boring dialog and a shocking lack of resolution.
It's set in the late 1940s and involves an expedition heading out to find some missing people in the Alaskan territory. Since it's a movie called The Yeti, the problem is one of them there missing links. So missing it barely ever shows up.

I wanted to like this sooo much more than I did. The beginning feels wildly rushed which is odd since the remaining hour is quite drawn out. Jim Cummings is underutilized, the lighting is too dark to see scenes at times, the frantic camera movements when the monster is shown is frustrating, and I know this had to be a tight budget project but it's unfortunate that the set feels incredibly artificial (you can see the "snow" blankets moving around during the climax). I think there could be a good movie somewhere in this idea with several more rewrites and a larger budget.
A slog of a creature feature. I missed Gene Gallerano and William Pisciotta’s The Yeti in theaters (thankfully), so thought I’d check it out for (a wasted) $5.99. A film about a team that goes searching for a missing party out on an expedition, this is one that showed some promise in the first ten minutes and quickly went downhill.
