I think Studio Ghibli movies aren't for me.
I do believe they're more than simple animated movies; they're works of art.
Literally every single frame of this movie was stunning. Watching this, I had the same feeling I have when going to a museum.
The problem is the pacing... Too long for the story they were telling. At one point, even the gorgeous art wasn't enough to hold my attention. Because, despite all I said, this is still a movie.…

Sometimes I forget that Pre-code era movies didn't shy away from being cruent. This one had some genuinely terrifying scenes. Unfortunately, all of them have nothing to do with the "game" itself.
I read the short story this morning, and I had the same problem with it: Despite the plot being "A man gets hunted to death," it's not really that thrilling.
