It has become 2026. And as the world seems to spin ever further into mirages, abstractions, and isolations, I'll venture to make it a year to stay close to the ground, hear its voice, feel its pulse, dispelling harmful figmentitious constructions, creating beneficial ones. Real people. Material conditions. Real stories. And failling short of that, as one must by necessity, at least compassionate representations thereof.
Shout out to user AngelMonkey and their list from whence I have retrieved the idea for the list and its weekly prompts. I've also added applicable prompts to each movie in the notes.
I'll pick and choose films from the list on a week-by-week basis. And will be continuing, in parallell, to progress towards a completion of Wiseman's body of work and a better understanding of Straub-Huillet, Benning, and Jia Zhangke. Also added American Movie as a bonus +1, since I've been dying to rewatch it.
