New Line Cinema at the Oscars

Originally founded as a distribution company to market foreign and arthouse films to college students, New Line Cinema found initial success with midnight circuit films like Reefer Madness, before really booming after the success of the Nightmare on Elm Street films, leading to many calling the studio The House That Freddy Built. Since then, the studio's biggest success has been the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but following several box office failures in the 2000s, the studio was bought out by Warner Bros and their output has decreased over the years. These are the films produced or distributed by New Line Cinema films that have scored Oscar nominations.
