1. To start, let's end the year strong with movies we meant to get to but never did. Watch a movie that's been stuck on your watchlist.
2: With the start of the holiday season it's time to get in the Christmas mood, whether you like it or not. Watch a movie that feels like a warm hug, even if a holiday is not the focus of the story.
3: On December 3rd 1968, Elvis Presley's comeback special aired on NBC. Watch any movie with Elvis Presley (starring Elvis, about Elvis, etc)
4: Despite what you may think, the first Thanksgiving took place on December 4th in 1619. Watch a movie considered an untraditional choice for a holiday movie.
5: It's the holidays, we're probably focusing on getting gifts for family and friends and such. To relieve ourselves of money issues, watch a movie you own on physical media or watch a movie for free via online services (Youtube, Tubi, on demand etc.)
6: Sometimes the making of a movie is as compelling as a movie itself. Watch a movie about making movies.
7: Last year was the release of the infamous Dwayne Johnson flop Red One. In honor of it's memory, watch a box office bomb you wished you saw in theaters
8: Letterboxd recently posted a list of films with the most fans who have 'she' pronouns in their bio. In honor of my sister fawnopedia, watch a movie from that list.
9. Winter can be a great setting for a movie, from christmas romcoms to doom and gloom thrillers. Watch a Christmas romcom.
10. To follow the last one, watch a much darker film (thriller, horror, drama etc.) set during the winter season.
11: After nearly a decade, Stranger Things is coming to an end. Watch a movie referenced in Stranger Things.
12: My college has a film club where we bring in movies to vote on watching. Watch one of the movies from my film club.
13. The Mission: Impossible franchise had it's grand conclusion this year with The Final Reckoning. Watch a movie featuring a cast member from the Mission: Impossible series.
14. Spider-Man Into The Spider Verse released on December 14th seven years ago, effectively changing the animation scene forever. Watch a movie nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars.
15: My mom is always recommending films to
me, partially through sending Instagram Reels about random movie facts (most of which she probably hasn't seen. Watch a movie my mom has recommended at some point (or your own parents)
16: In 1962, Lawrence of Arabia premiered in theaters on this day. Watch a movie that is 3+ hours.
17: I share a birth year with McKenna Grace, which has always been interesting as she became a leading star over the years. Watch a movie with an actor you share a birth year with.
18: In 2009, James Cameron's Avatar released in theaters. The film has been covered on the Blank Check podcast, where hosts Griffin & David cover directors who were able to pursue their passion projects. Watch a movie covered on Blank Check.
19: The letterboxd top 4 is an interesting peek into someone's head, especially when a celebrity is asked that question. Watch a movie from the Top 4 of an actor (or director) you really like.
20: Now, let's see what kind of stuff your favorite artists worked on. Scroll to the bottom of that actor/director's page on Letterboxd and watch a film seen by under 200k members.
21: I watched the Chainsaw Man movie with someone who hadn't seen the show, and it left me thinking what it must've felt like for them. Watch a movie that spun off from a tv show
22: One of the new joys I found at the theater was the Screen Unseens AMC holds from time to time. Watch a movie that premiered as an AMC Screen (or Scream) Unseen this year.
23: Christmas Time is near and most of us are on break spending time with family, so catching a movie might be hard when they want to spend time with you (ew.) Watch a movie featured in the 'Short-Ass Movies' music video from Saturday Night Live (includes lyrics and background films, could be one of the long ones if you're really daring.)
24: Television's always playing the classics around this time. Watch a Christmas classic you'll come across from channel surfing (or actively find them yourselves, either works.)
25: It's Christmas day, you know what the prompt's gonna be. Watch any Christmas movie, rewatching a favorite or finding a new one.
26: Movies inspire us all, whether as artists or in our day to day lives. Watch a movie that inspired you in whichever way that mattered, in creativity or in life.
27: At the end of the day, you can't watch them all, and you gotta learn to live with that, you'll just get to them another day. Watch a movie you didn't get to on a previous hunt.

28: They're saying 2026 is looking like a great year for movies, and I'm not looking to disagree with it. To get a headstart, watch a movie getting a sequel or remake next year.
29: The first viewing of a movie is the one that sticks with you the most, and I tend to agree with that. Watch a movie you wish you could watch for the first time again.
30: As we're looking to next year, we gotta keep up with the inevitable awards discussion. Watch a movie you think has a good chance of getting nominated for next years Oscars.
31: And finally, I'm gonna take a prompt from my first ever hunt, the #118th Scavenger Hunt hosted by Hannah, that got me into this challenge as I end the year hosting it.
