Babe wake up, new Tubi-available indie horror film with a hashtag in the title just dropped, and we are eating reasonably good in the neighborhood.
Vanlife social media influencers settle down on a site (sight?) unseen rural plot in Nowheresville, USA, go missing under mysterious circumstances, and we cut back and forth watching their story and the story of an unnamed beard guy who is trying to find them.
Unfolds in a couple of unsuspected ways and does a good job of setting you up early to be peeking through all the windows and trees looking for shadowy shapes.
Not the most unique thing in the universe, and Indistinct Shadow Man isn't the coolest bad guy, but pretty solid with…

We're All In This To-Get-Her
LIGHT SPOILERS. Clever found footage premise that is sticking with me for days. It has me going down google and TikTok rabbit holes. The local folklore about Camp Van Dorn is REAL. Austin and Janna are real vanlifers. Great performances, if they were actually acting?? Have they actually been found yet? No new posts since they were announced missing. Gabby Petito parallels made it extra impactful... Worth a rewatch.
Nothing to write home about, just your run of the mill found footage. I would have liked this much better if it would turn out the couple did all this to lure their stalker into the woods to kill him.
But they had to get ghosts involved for whatever reason 乁( •_• )ㄏ

Fido score: There is a good boi in this, but it's unclear what happens to him. He's either now a ghost dog frolicking in the woods, or a normal dog frolicking in the woods and being taken care of by ghosts. Either way it's not ideal, but because of this I can't approve or disapprove ૮₍ ´• ˕ •` ₎ა﹖﹖﹖
Better than I expected, as I liked the idea of FF from two timelines and some of the twists were fun. The effects weren’t good, and this could have used more scares, but I dug that they didn’t over explain everything.
“ Tried searching for this movie on google and couldn’t find ANYTHING. No website, no photos, no reviews, no mentions …. NOTHING! The only thing I could find was a trailer on youtube. ONE TRAILER - with 900 views and ZERO comments. Not sure what’s going on but whoever made this film sure doesn’t care to let people know about it. One of the best movies i’ve ever seen probably ever. Three stars! “ - Mike from Redbar
There's a lot to like in this. The story is involving, the performances are good and the setting is fantastic.
But that ending.
Almost right off the bat I feared there was going to be a big reveal that was very obvious. And I was then pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. However, with what the filmmakers went with, I wish it would've been the original reveal I was worried about.
I was expecting this to be a flop, but I actually really enjoyed it. Is it groundbreaking? No. But I really liked their use of two different story perspectives (the couple’s and the search guy), it made it fairly entertaining and intriguing, for me at least. It isn’t very scary or even creepy, more mysterious, but it has some spooky moments at the end. Although, I will say, I’m not quite sure I really pieced it together in the end but I still had fun with it.
Oh also, they didn’t hurt the dog so that bumped up the rating for me lol
