My goal this month is to knock out at least twenty-five movies within the classic Film Noir genre that I haven't seen, as well as roughly another twenty Foreign-Produced Noirs, Noir Precursors, or Neo-Noir films to go along with those classics. The bulk of these should be American-made films from the classic period (1940-1959) that fit most of the other typical criteria for a Film Noir. This year I also included six additional movies that I have seen before (but have never given a proper review), so the last six movies on the list as of initial publishing time will actually be rewatches.

Last year I finally finished up this list of 250 Quintessential Noir Films, so this year I will be pulling all my movies from other lists. That list stems from a larger list being put together in the Noir portion of the They Shoot Pictures website (or see this Letterboxd list for a handy version of the current list), and some of the other categories on the list include "Often Cited Noirs," "Quite Often Cited Noirs," and "Not Often Cited Noirs." Beyond that, there may also be some from a list of DVD Beaver's Essential Film Noir. In the Notes section you will find which of those lists each movie is found on, as well as how I plan to watch the movie (whether streaming, on my DVR, or elsewhere).
Realistically I won't get much more than maybe 40-50 of these movies watched this month, since I do have some other projects I am working on as well. I will rank them all as I go, and everything that receives a rating of 4/5 or higher will be added to my master list of my favorite Film Noirs. If any of these end up unwatched at the end of the month, I'll remove them from the list (unless I just decide to extend the marathon into December to finish the list, like I have in the past).
Lastly, this list will also serve as my official entry into Letterboxd user SavageBob's Noirvember marathon The Big Noirvember. Feel free to check out his list for prompts to help you put together your own month-long Film Noir marathon if you feel like joining along on a similar marathon. All of the thirty films that are counting towards that have the category they are satisfying in the Notes section on my list. Otherwise, if you don't want to use any official prompts, feel free to use the tag "tbn2025" or "Noirvember 2025" on your lists and reviews if you want to join in on the Film Noir fun this month in a less structured manner.
