It’s that time folks… my last work on the Mononoke trilogy! This time I worked on it doing Layout and Key animation!
The movie itself is a worthy ending to the trilogy. The whole story comes full circle, and even rewards the audience with some surprises (cannot spoil it yet…!). To me, this is the most psychedelic one in the trilogy. The stories has always been layered with multiple reveals, a journey into the character’s psyche. With the last monster, the direction allowed a much more wild and avant-garde experience that I personally enjoyed. The story may be hard to understand fully at times, but it never leaves you bored. I’m planning to see it one more time.

For some reason I had it in my head there were going to be four of these, so when this thing ties it all up and ends pretty definitively, I was left sitting there like "hmmm where on earth are they gonna go from here." Imagine my distress when I looked it up and learned I WASN'T going to get a new Mononoke movie every year for the rest of my life...
Anyway, they ended with a bang! This is the best of the trilogy, both more visually thrilling (somehow) and more emotionally affecting than the previous two, in part thanks to having all that time to build things up. Here the defining aesthetic is brought in much more aggressively…

The animation is WILD. The music is FIRE. Kusuriuri is the definition of AURA. I didn’t think it could get any better than the first and second films but boy was I wrong. The last instalment went HARD.
Exceptional. Truly underrated.

jokes aside, since I watched this in cinemas it had no subs and the japanese they use is Hard so it was a bit tricky BUT!!! once its widely available I will have to rewatch all three of them together - the themes are actually so interesting. They basically took the first arc of the series and said Ok what if we expanded on that
and by expand they meant make three whole new movies
lots of messages on power, gender dynamics and motherhood aka all stuff I like

「自由になりたかった。」it was really beautiful the storytelling, the animations and atmosphere, they were all perfect. Also I was really excited to see kusuriuri ri for 0.5 nanoseconds one of the best part for me.
i wish i had jotted my thoughts down more recent to seeing it (saw it opening night), but i left the theater still appreciating the artisty of the work but ultimately thinking this was a pretty crappy way to end the triad
mostly the plottings fault. i get we had to cram two mononoke into the runtime here, both the titular serpent and the curse locked away, but dick me if cramming that into 90 minutes didnt kill any sense of atmosphere. just turned the proceedings into a (gorgeous!) kaliedoscope. and i hate to turn all cinemasins on this shit, but giving me 2 and a half movies mining 1 and a half milennia of trauma suffered by japanese women only to turn around and try to characterize the emperor as a decent bit of yaoi bait and the polygamy factory as something that doesnt deserve to get siphoned out of existence left a bad taste, to say the least
No entendí del todo el plot porque estaba en japonés pero que pasada de animación, de las mas chulas con diferencia. Me ha encantado todos los frames eran hermosos. El prota es chulissimo.
