Here we go again. From my first true foray into horror in 2021, I'm back for my fifth outing in Cinemonster's twelfth instalment of that most beloved of Letterboxd challenges.
I had found yearly challenges a bit all-consuming in recent years and had decided to take a year off - shout out to everyone who works so hard to put them together each year, but it felt right to take a year where I wasn't following any rigid guidelines; just watching what I wanted to at any given time. It has been nice. Key word being "has"—it's almost October and it felt almost sacrilegious letting this pass by.

2025 has been a strange year, best encapsulated by Spurs last season. Capable of the highest of highs before crashing to near relegation before giving me (and by extension, us) one of the best nights of my life. Time will tell how things go this season, but one thing is for sure - it's always going to be exciting, and that's how things feel all over right now. Highs and lows throughout, but the movies will always be there for us.
Spooky season is almost underway, brought into focus with the good and the...middling. The terrible is there too, but I've erred away from that as much as I can this year. Fear Street: Prom Queen was a bit too early to be brought in here, wasn't it?
I'm looking forward to Hooptober 12. I'm incredibly hopeful that the majority of these aren't going to be utter dross. I was going to say "don't let me down", but this is almost entirely my own selection, so I can only blame myself really, can't I?
