Throwing my hat into the ring and doing the Hooptober challenge this year. A first time for me! These will be mostly first-time watches, with a handful of rewatches.
Some of these titles are recs or first-timers for my partner GollyAnnie and I, some are weird thrifted DVDs or VHSs I'm using the occasion as an excuse to sit down and watch, and a couple will be playing at Images before our main theater goes dark for several months during renovations.
Thanks to Cinemonster for putting this together. The criteria and explanation can be found on his profile.

There must be 31 horror films
6 countries (other than Italy or US) Britain, Mexico, Canada, Russia, Japan, and the Netherlands
9 decades: 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's.
5 Zombie Films: White Zombie (932), FleshEater (1988) Shatter Dead (1994) Idle Hands (1999) Ed and His Dead Mother (1993)
3 cult or conspiracy horror films: The Devil Rides Out (1968) Messiah of Evil (1974) Seconds (1966)
1 film from a Black director with a Black lead: Eve's Bayou (1997)
1 film from a Mexican or Central American director: Alucarda (1997)
1 Canadian film: Clearcut (1991)
1 former Soviet state film: Viy (1967)
The most popular film from the 1940s that you haven't seen and can access: The Seventh Victim (1947)
2 Post Apocalyptic horror films: Prophecies of Nostradamus (1974) The Day the World Ended (1955)
1 Film with dreams or a dream as part of the plot: Beyond Dream's Door (1989)
1 The animals are pissed at us film: King Kong (1933)
1 Silent film: The Cat and the Canary (1927)
4 based on Novels: The Undying Monster (1942) It (1990) The Vanishing (1988) Lair of the White Worm
Any film from THIS list that you haven't seen: A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)
1 Ernesto Gastaldi written film: Torso (1973)
1 film from 1932: Doctor X (1932)
I have never made a specific film a part of this before, but WIZARD of OZ ('39)
And 1 Tobe Hooper Film (There must ALWAYS be a Hooper film): Eaten Alive (1977)
Now, given that we're allowed to have films fulfill multiple categories, that so far makes 26 films that don't double-dip in any categories other than the 6 countries and 9 decades. So, I decided to add films four additional countries: Horror Rises from the Tomb (1973, Spain) I Like Bats (1986, Poland) Mystics in Bali (1981, Indonesia) and A House in Jerusalem (2023, Palestine), bringing the total up to 30. The the 31st movie of the count is House (1977) which, along with King Kong, has a special significance this year.
