This was bad! Which I was aware of going into it. But! Part of it was filmed in my great grandma’s house. She passed away recently and the house will probably be sold soon. That house has been a landmark in our family for decades and I can’t even begin to imagine how many memories are tied up in those walls between my million family members. It sucks that it won’t be the place for our family reunions anymore, but it’s insanely cool to have Grandma Goldie’s “house of horrors” (yes it’s a creepy house and called that by my entire family) immortalized in something we can all look back on and have fun with.

I am really torn on this one. The plot is pretty meandering BUT Billy Drago in a dress. The point of this The Crow knockoff is lost on me BUT Billy Drago in a dress with Party City wig. It's kinda boring for chunks of time BUT Billy Drago in a dress with Party City wig acting all crazy.

Yeah, that's worth 3 stars.

Unfortunately, 5 minutes in and you already know this is gonna be abysmal. Looks like crap, wooden performances, endlessly banal comic book exposition, and not even bad-funny enough to be entertaining. What a waste.

Even more embarrassing that you can tell the filmmakers really thought they were making something very hip and cool here. Wilmer clearly acting like this was gonna launch his movie career post 70s Show.

Blind-bought a used DVD of this based on the cover art alone and was excited to read on the back that it came with an "exclusive collectible mini comic book" as well as a set of wash-and-wear tattoos. I guess the previous owner kept those, however, as there was nothing inside but the disc. Another disappointment.

The Dead One aka El Muerto could be another movie in The Crow series and no one would bat an eye. The problem with that is that is the movie is kind of boring after I figured that out. Maybe that is on me, but I have seen plenty of clone movies that have kept me invested.

Never feel any sense of energy here. Just feels like it could have been more, and misses that somehow. A shame, with the cast involved here.

I don't think this was meant to be funny but I laughed so hard.

I wanted to like so much more than I did. It deserved a higher budget. Good for the concept, bad for the execution.

I can't hate on this too hard, since it's the sort of mildly spooky tween-aimed supernatural adventure/superhero origin story that might have been an ABC Family original airing around Halloween. Which is to say, I am not exactly the target audience. I can say that Aztec folklore is underused in horror movies, both American and (from what I can tell) Mexican. There could be a super scary film made from this basic premise--this ain't it, but in fairness, it doesn't try to be.
