It seems like with every approaching autumn, I ask myself, "Do you really need to binge horror movies again this year?" No matter how busy, stressed, or otherwise occupied, my answer is inevitably, "YES." Regular followers may note that I've been roughly a month behind on my reviews since last Hoop-tober, and this upcoming season doesn't look much more relaxed. On the personal (certainly not the global) front, it's been a fairly gratifying year, with lots of travel and friends and family and live music, but I do feel I've neglected one of my major hobbies... I mean, in June, I only watched 8 movies total, the lowest monthly number since I started tracking in 2014.
Anyway, I'm back for…

Anyway, I'm back for my 11th go at Cinemonster's venerable scavenger hunt, fulfilling his 2025 criteria with 30 titles of my own choosing, and one of his (no complaints, can't remember the last time I sat down with The Wizard of Oz in its entirely). I'm pleased to say that a healthy portion of this list comes from my shelving unit filled with movies I've purchased but haven't watched, toward my goal of chipping away at some of the semi-viewed box sets. I also intended to make this a little easier on myself by loading up on rewatches, but that idea went out the window as soon as the rules dropped. So great is the excuse to finally catch up with some title or other, I actually had to remind myself to add in a few old favorites. I believe I came up with a nice mix of eras, subgenres, budgets and tones, but time will tell.
Here is my signature "trailer reel," a YouTube playlist of official or fan-made trailers for (or short clips from) all 31 titles I've selected. Peace, love and Happy Hoop-tober, everyone... it's gonna be a wild one. Here's hoping I finish all my reviews before Christmas.
9/27/25 EDIT: I went to watch Psychovision today, only to find that Al Passeri's taken it down from his YT page and it's completely unavailable otherwise. So, I'm swapping in Beyond Re-Animator from the same year.
