Hooptober XII: A Thicket of Shadows

Spooky season is nearly upon us again... my primary goal this year is to watch all the films in Severin's "All the Haunts Be Ours" folk horror boxset that I haven't seen before. It feels apt in a couple of ways. We are fighting against forces that feel both contemporary and ancient; the witch hunt today is against trans people, and it's partly still driven by the powerful wielding religion as a weapon of hate and persecution - or a new kind of fanatical devotion, to power structures invented to justify colonial atrocities and the oppression of all women.
