Recurring Contenders at the Oscars

To be nominated for an Oscar, a film has to premiere during a set window of time, usually within a set calendar year though earlier ceremonies had different eligibility periods.

Despite this, there have been a few films that have done something interesting. Been nominated at multiple Oscar ceremonies.

Almost all of the films that have done this managed it because they were foreign films. Foreign films have their own unique rules for eligibility and for a long time, this allowed for an interesting circumstance where they premiered in America, allowing for eligibility in the general categories on year, while also being submitted by their host country for Foreign Language film another year.
