Happy October, daily horror hunt denizens!
I'm so excited to be your horror hunt host for this month, leading us up to Halloween, which is also my birthday! I really hope you have fun with the prompts!
(if one or more of the prompts don't work for you, then just with either something that's been on your watchlist a long time, or a movie from the past two years that you've been meaning to see and haven't yet!)
1. Happy first of (Halloween) October! Today we will begin by honoring the awesome Sage, last month's host, and watch any horror movie from their watchlist!
2. Near Dark starring Bill Paxton is one of my favorite movies of all time and was released on 10/02/1987. Bill Paxton was also one of two my favorite actors. Today honor Bill Paxton and watch any horror movie he starred in!.
3. "On October third, he asked me what day it was." Let's celebrate Mean Girls day today by watching a horror movie with a killer or antagonist of any type who is a woman. (and yes, trans women are women!).
4. One of my favorite aspects of these horror hunts is that I've discovered a lot of movies I didn't know about before, thanks to others' lists and watchlists! Today, go to a list from any prev horror hunt participant and watch any horror movie in their watchlist.
5. Many horror hunts have a focus on our watchlists, I kind of wanted to subvert that and make it about others' watchlists and us finding even more new stuff in this hunt, so now, choose any mutual, go to their watchlist and watch something from there.
6. Final prompt for others' watchlists! Go the watchlist of our awesome leader, snarling apollo and watch something from his watchlist in appreciation of him and how he keeps these hunts going for us!
7. LUCKY 7! Put your watchlist on shuffle and horror and wach the seventh movie. If you don't have a watchlist, choose the watchlist of someone else set it to horror and watch the seventh in their list!
8. It's the 88th horror hunt! 8 is also one of my lucky numbers. Watch something related to the number 8. This can either be 8 letters in the title, 8 words in the title, released in 1988 or any other year ending in 8, the title can be 8 syllables, 8th installment of a franchise, released 88 years ago, released on august 8th or just in august ... seriously anything as long as the number 8 is somehow linked to it.
9. Let's celebrate women in horror. Today watch any horror movie written, directed or edited by a woman.
10. "Are you the tenth of October,because you're a 10/10!" For today, everyone take this as a chance to re-watch an old favorite, or something you watched for the first time this year and want to see again!
11. Now just for fun watch a movie you think would make a great double feature with number 10.
12. I'm participating in a bunch of challenges. Today, if you're participating in any other horror challenges, watch a movie that is one you have on that list. If you're not participatingin any others, go the hooptober list by cinemonster here - and watch any horror movie that would fit any of his prompts for this year.
13. Roh Jae-Won is one of my favorite actors and today is his birthday! In his honor watch a South Korean horror movie.
14. I love watching horror from all over the world, same as I love exploring different decades. Today watch any horror movie from any country that is not your own and not from UK, USA or Canada (being as those three are very prominent).
15. HALF WAY TO HALLOWEEN! use today as a Free Space to watch anything you've been greatly anticipating (can be new realease or an old entry in your watchlist!)

17. I love to explore different decades in horror. I find there is something for everyone in every decade and it's a shame some decades are less popular than others. Today, look at your watched movies and choose he decade you've watched the least horror movies from, or a decade you've watched no horror movies from, and choose one from that decade to watch.
18. Watch any horror movie directed by a non-white director.
19. It is Michael Myers' canon birthday today! In honor of the man himself, today watch any of the Halloween movies that isn't the original 1978 Halloween. (Rob Zombie movies totally count too if you prefer those!)
20. Today seems like a pretty good time to watch any sequel or installment of any franchise.
21. It's Bela Lugosi's birthday today! In honor of him, watch any vampire movie you want!
22. In exactly one month from today, it will be my great friend, Maxime's birthday. Celebrate early in his honor by watching either a French horror movie or any horror movie that is predominantly his favorite color, orange!
23. Scorpio season is now upon us! An element asociated with the zodiac sign is mystery. So, today watch any horror movie that has some sort of a mystery in it.
24. My baby is also a Scorpio and fittingly, horror is his favorite. In his honor today watch any Japanese horror movie you've never seen before or any erotic horror movie you've never seen before.
25. I am super into silent horror movies, which I discovered thanks to this hunt and Hooptober when I joined letterboxd in 2022! It's 2025, so watch a silent movie from 1920s!
26. Five more days 'til Halloween, Halloween, Halloween... today watch any horror movie that takes place on or around Halloween!
27. Watch any queer horror movie.
28. It's my fellow Halloween sister's birthday today! We both share Italian heritage too, so in her honor either watch an Italian horror movie or anything from her watchlist!
29. Music is so important to me, and the scores in movies are such a huge part of the experience for me! In keeping with that, watch any movie from this list of lauded horror movie scores.
30. Every year my best friend - who is basically a sister - and I watch Hocus Pocus during the last week of October for my birthday. In her honor watch a horror movie with either werewolves (her favorites), or a movie where the main character is a woman.
31. IT'S HALLOWEEN! Thank youuu for spending the month with me. In this month we celebrated a lot of different people's birthdays and now please join me to celebrate mine and Halloween by watchng the original 1978 Halloween - which I have watched on Halloween for my birthday ever since my early teens - and/or watch any other movie that you love to watch during Halloween season! If you can't do either of those things/don't want to, simply use this as another free space.
