This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
15 Minutes of Donkeys walking with stunning cinematography was nominated for an Oscar, sure why not?
the best 15 minutes of donkeys walking of my life and the most surprising thing is its visuals!!! better than wicked lol
just three donkeys hanging out at the astronomical observatory. what are they doing there? no one knows. but they seem to be having a pretty chill time
This definitely had some awesome cinematography, some very cool visuals, and some equally cool audio. Otherwise, there is simply not much to this. Probably a good short to watch high. Not too sure how this one snuck into the nominations, though I'm not totally opposed to it. There was definitely a perfect strangeness to it!
they’re just some lads (donkeys) on their way to a concert (planetarium orchestra of the cosmos)
I am a sucker for anything that features donkeys, so of course I loved this. I also watch a lot of experimental docs (features and shorts), so it makes me happy that something like this is getting recognition by Oscars with a nomination. I'm so sick of the made for online consumption info style docs dominating the category.
Also, for all the comments calling this aimless, or the top one that just goes ??, it's. . .pretty straightforward? It's a contrast between the donkeys (which represent nature, ancient wisdom, etc.), the manmade structures (La Silla Observatory in Chile) where man searches for something beyond us (the universe, ancient wisdom, the unknown), and the stars that represent the vast unknowability of it all.
It's not EO, but this most certainly goes down as the second best film that stars a donkey in the lead role in cinematic history.
Gorgeous looking photography, though not sure what the 'documentary' is, unless it's supposed to be a kind of short film version of a photobook.
