If you want to just get the prompts and don't care about all the preamble, look in the notes of the list.
Prompt #1: Summer is coming to an end, to have one last celebration of the summer, watch any summer movie. It can take place in the summer or just have the vibes, whatever you like. Here’s a list for some inspiration!
letterboxd.com/magnozzi/list/that-summer-feeling/
Prompt #2: Let’s take it back now to over 10 years ago when the hunt was started by the OG Wood with a prompt from the first scavenger hunt. A prompt that is definitely easier to accomplish now then it would have been in 2015. Watch a film that is at least 100 years old!
Prompt #3: Now it’s time to do some prompts about myself. I was born in 2003 and I think that was a pretty damn good year for movies. Watch a film from 2003.
Prompt #4: This is a classic prompt for a reason, physical media really is the best way to watch movies. There’s always such an amazing feeling putting something into the player and watching cinema whether it be good or bad. It always feels much better than clicking play on streaming. Watch a movie you own on physical media. Or if you would prefer, you can watch one that I own!
letterboxd.com/brifilms/list/physical-media-collection-9/
Prompt #5: I was a bit mean to streaming in the last prompt but I don’t think it’s all bad by any means. A lot of them tend to annoy me but one I am always satisfied with is the GOAT of all streaming, that’s right I’m talking Tubi, thousands of random movies, all for free. Watch a film streaming on Tubi.
Prompt #6: The true best way to watch a movie is in theaters and as much as I love watching older films, I am always interested in what the new movies are out at the cinema. Watch a new film in cinemas.
Prompt #7: I got my Dad on Letterboxd a few years ago and he has been posting funny, weird, and insightful 3 word only reviews since then. Watch a film my Dad has logged on Letterboxd. Here’s his account!

Prompt #8: For 4 years now, I have been watching all of the Disney Channel Original Movies or DCOMs for short. We’re still only in 2011 so it is a long journey for sure full of many terrible films but there have been some real gems as well. So watch a DCOM! My top 5 so far are You Wish, The Color of Friendship, The Wizards of Waverly Place Movie, Stepsister from Planet Weird, and Twitches. Special mention to High School Musical 3 as well but it was so good it had a theatrical release! Here’s a list of all of them.

Prompt #9: When we’re not watching DCOMs my friends and I are doing something called THE CHOICE. Because it is too difficult for us to all decide on something usually, I pitched the idea of making a list of 5-10 movies each where we pick 2 we want to watch then the rest are made up of shuffling our Letterboxd watchlists and each picking of the 3-4 movies which we most want to watch. Then at the end when we each have the desired amount of films we do a random number generator to decide what we watch. There’s been some real garbage in there but it’s always fun to do. Watch a film that has won the choice! Here’s a list.

Prompt #10: Despite a questionable last season, Doctor Who is one of my favorite shows. There’s just so many episodes that I could just watch endlessly because of how brilliant the writing, characters, and stories are. At the forefront of the series is the titular character, The Doctor. Watch a film featuring any of the 16 actors to officially play The Doctor in live action.
William Hartnell
Patrick Troughton
Jon Pertwee
Tom Baker
Peter Davison
Colin Baker
Sylvester McCoy
Paul McGann
Christopher Eccleston
David Tennant
Matt Smith
John Hurt
Peter Capaldi
Jodie Whittaker
Jo Martin
Ncuti Gatwa

Prompt #11: Also despite a questionable last season, I adore Survivor. It’s going into its 50th season next year and there’s a reason for that. It is truly such a compelling and revolutionary series that looks into the human condition while still being very fun and unpredictable. Watch a film starring a contestant from Survivor or one of Jeff Probst’s 3 directed films!

Prompt #12- If I had to pinpoint my five favorite directors right now, I would probably say David Lynch, Spike Lee, The Wachowski Sisters, Agnes Varda, and Sofia Coppola. Watch a film directed by any of them!
Prompt #13: August is the birth month of two underrated actors who are sisters! Watch a film starring Taissa or Vera Farmiga.
Prompt #14: One of the most fascinating directors to me is Sean McNamara, a lot of his films are quite bad I must admit but he just makes so much (a whopping 49 and he didn’t start until the 90s) that I have to admire it and I think more people should check out his schlocky filmography. Watch a Sean McNamara film. Bonus points if you don’t watch Reagan!
Prompt #15: I have so much nostalgia for the classic monsters in the media. Werewolves, vampires, mummies, and ghosts I would say are the big 4, I always enjoy checking out a random movie based on these monsters. Watch a werewolf, vampire, mummy, or ghost movie.
Prompt #16: I have recently gotten really fascinated with theme parks. They are such a technical marvel and so much fun too when the designers can go all in one theming. Watch a movie either based on a theme park attraction or that takes place in a theme park. Bonus points if you combine this and the last prompt and watch The Mummy Theme Park!
Here’s a couple lists for ideas

Prompt #17: The Emmy nominations just came out and for the most part I am happy with them, some of my favorite shows being The Studio, The Rehearsal, Hacks, Severance, and Adolescence. I can’t make people watch a whole TV series so I will do the one movie exclusive category they have, best TV Movie. I believe TV movies deserve more respect so watch a film to be nominated for best tv movie at the Emmys.

Prompt #18: I love watching a movie that nobody has ever heard of, it’s like opening up a mystery box having no idea what you’re going to get and I think many of these obscure films deserve more attention. Watch a film with a thousand or less watches on Letterboxd. Or if you’re feeling even more adventurous, watch one with less than 500.

Prompt #19: Ok I’ll give you a little bit of a break now from the weird and obscure. Watch one of the 20 most popular films on Letterboxd that you’ve yet to see.
Prompt #20: It is always interesting looking back at the past, watch a film that takes place in the past. It can be however far back as you want, it can take place in prehistoric times or one year ago. As long as it takes place in the past, it’s fair game!
Prompt #21: The future used to look a lot more exciting and now with the rise of technology past the point we ever thought it could go, it’s looking a lot more scary. It’s still quite interesting to think about where we may be headed. Watch a film that takes place in the future. Bonus points if it's an optimistic one and not an apocalyptic one!
Prompt #22: I genuinely think there is value in watching movies people don’t like. I started to value film a lot more as an artform when I decided to just be willing to watch almost anything to see how far film as an artform can be stretched. Watch a film on the Letterboxd Bottom 250! To me some of them aren’t even too bad, I would recommend Cats, Catwoman, Epic Movie, Halloween: Resurrection, Death Note, Movie 43, The Star Wars Holiday Special, and Madame Web. I think they are all so much fun. letterboxd.com/randommr411/list/letterboxd-bottom-250/
Prompt #23: I don’t listen to many podcasts but my most listened to is Blank Check. It has done a great job to expand my film taste with their in depth discussions and all the great bits. Watch a film covered on Blank Check.
letterboxd.com/jeffwsweeney/list/blank-check/
Prompt #24: Today is the start of world water week! I am of the belief that water is the best drink ever. To celebrate the importance of water, watch a film based around the water.
letterboxd.com/rico333/list/water/
Prompt #25: I feel like in the film world, documentaries are incredibly undervalued. I hear so many people say “I don’t watch documentaries, they're boring just schoolwork” and those people just need to watch the one documentary to open their eyes up to the medium. They truly are such an endlessly expressive medium that can tell any sort of story. There is undeniably one out there for everybody so watch any documentary.
Here’s a list that includes some of the finest out there

Prompt #26: August 26th is national dog appreciation day! I have two dogs that I love so much and I always enjoy watching dogs in movies even if a lot of them don’t turn out to be too good. Watch a film starring a dog. Here’s a list for some inspiration!
letterboxd.com/danthedan/list/dogs/
Prompt #27: I have recently gained such a love for musicals and one subgenre I find incredibly interesting are jukebox musicals. I love how musicals can take preexisting famous songs and turn it into something completely new. Watch a jukebox musical.

Prompt #28: We’re reaching the end of the journey now so treat yourself to a short movie today. Watch a film that’s 90 minutes or less.
Prompt #29: I believe that rewatching films over the years is incredibly important to the film watching experience. Rewatch one of your favorite films that you haven’t seen in a while!
Prompt #30: The witching season of Halloween is coming upon us and while I would have loved to host the October hunt, I am very happy to have included some spooky prompts. If you wanted to, I believe you could make your list all horror films! August 30th is Frankenstein day and because I feel a little bad for leaving Frank out of the classic monster prompt, finish out the month with a film starring Frankenstein!
Prompt #31: Well we’ve reached the end. It's been real fun making these prompts and I hope everyone enjoys making their lists too! Let's finish strong with a feast! One thing I love more than movies is food so watch a film that prominently features food!
